The origin of lunar craters explained.

Listening to podcasts at 2x has spoiled humanity for me. Why does everyone talk so slowly?

@chid You being a biologist is really cool. What area of biology do you work in?

Great idea from @HedgeMage

"Let's play a game, to help some of the newcomers make connections: name 5-7 things that interest you but aren't in your profile, as tags so they are searchable. Then boost this post or repeat its instructions so others know to do the same."

Just arrived at work just to have my iphone go into an infinite boot loop... Not fun.

I got three likes on my last toot. I'm feeling the pressure.

reminds me of random chatrooms/forums in the 90's. But in a good way.

Yeah, so the Federated Timeline is the timeline of everyone on your instance and then everyone those people follow. Not everyone on the network.

I'm not sure what's happening but I'm already having more fun then I ever had on Twitter. (Also: new and shiny things!)

Every once in a while I get reminded of the relief junior devs feel when they come to me or other more experienced people and we don't know the answer to a problem, and how valuable that is.

I think a lot of tech (me included) struggles with not wanting to be wrong or seem stupid, but it sets an unreachable expectation on ourselves and our junior colleagues.

Junior devs: if everything is confusing, you're not stupid

Senior devs: let people see you mess up

Either my internet is acting up (very possible) or a lot of people have decided to sign up for this and it's crashing...

I remember when hash tags were invented by the Twitter community, and the time before @ replies weren't broadcast to all of your followers.

I remember App.net when it had its own cambrian explosion of applications and how happy everyone was to find a new "other place".

And now I'm here and this is great.

I think that the natural cycle of things means that to get the feeling we're having now, here, things need to be built, grow and decline*.

And that's okay.

* "decline" for its core users.

@Selsky The federated timeline is all live instances, the local one is just mine? Am I correct in that? And I can follow anyone on any instance?

Do I have to register a new account for every instance?

Hello everyone. Soooo. What do I do? haha. Any fellow non US person here?
