My yard work is complete, and I am now drinking beer in anticipation of watching a match my local football club. Saturday is awesome when you have the freedom to spend it as you see fit.

β€œThe element of suggestion, even hypnotism, in the present relation to television will vanish. From that moment on, we can hope for a transformation of mass-media power that will overcome contemporary subjectivity, and for the beginning of a post-media era of collective-individual reappropriation and an interactive use of machines of information, communication, intelligence, art and culture.”

– FΓ©lix Guattari, Towards a Post-Media Era

Sure, politics dominates the news, but who will write an expose on the fatal lack of clues in the world. History tells us we were once clueful. They we knew what needed doing and invented novel way of doing it. Now we wallow in a clueless world without any idea of what to do or how to do it. We flail, we scream, we drive around in circles, but clues simply won't reveal themselves to us any more. Have we offended them? Have we run out? We have a right to know.

The unparalleled releif in using the 'mute' button.

Although, I wonder if it might be more brand consistent to call it a 'moot' button, as in rendering the offending conversation thus.

No, mute is correct and true, why hobble meaning to accommodate consistency?

β€œIf we behave like those on the other side, then we are the other side. Instead of changing the world, all we'll achieve is a reflection of the one we want to destroy.”

It's one of those days where, when I opened my eyes in bed this morning, the first thing I thought was, "I can't wait to get back into bed tonight and do some reading."

That's how it's been lately. My only overarching desire is to be alone in a quiet room reading. At least, until September when I can leave this horrid country and visit civilization for a few weeks. Until then, bed, books, silence, and that warm anticipation of solace amid the chaos of the day.

β€œI am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.”
― AnaΓ―s Nin

I am still kind of baffled that, in the year 2017 AD, 'we don't have nazi's' is a legitimate selling point for a social media site. And, tragically with the appearance of Breitbart News, is actually not completely true.

Observation: As a person who has seen a few online communities come and go - as I am sure many on here are - it is interesting to see the 'soft' aspects of community form. The site provides the 'hard' framework, and this particular one seems very flexible, and is open, but the community is more than it's protocol.
When they are new, online communities are like a cross between a work party and an open house. It's fun to observe, and often the newness and novelty spurns quality sociality.

In what country is targaryen.house located? Asking as a curious nerd.

Just about time to head home and drink  and hope that nuclear war doesn't start...

Adieu, until we Toot again!

Just reported Breitbart, please tell me that they will be bounced out of here.

Has anyone name their Mastodon client 'Toot Suite' yet? Cause, it seems a natural.

I feel quite cosmopolitan with a stream of French and German messages in the queue...I don't understand either very well, but that doesn't detract from the feeling.

@NilVeritas It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, it was the launch of yet another social networking platform.
