poll: is this an internet coolguys club or the exact opposite, and also which of those two possibilities is worse
Hey @BarackObama! I'm Cool Cat!
Anyone on here from #antwerp #antwerpen ?
Federated timeline is already approaching 50% bot posts. It was nice while it lasted :/
(sorry for the repost, maybe this time it won't disappear into the aether)
Hi, I'm Christopher Josef. Originally from Vienna, currently in Antwerp.
I make clothes, and like to read and think about the future of clothesmaking/fahion in terms of culture, production, industry, ethics, etc.
Some of my work for other companies is on www.christopher-ehrlich.com. I also make more everyday things, but have not put them online in the past.
My hobbies include coding, cooking, running, left-wing politics, and reading - SciFi (Gibson & Dick) and Russian classics.
Is Targaryen overloaded? Local and Federal timelines aren't updating and my introduction post disappeared.
Does anyone know who owns/runs targaryen? Would assume they have an account on their own thing.
Also, will it be possible to put a front-end on this that makes it possible for non-techies to understand? I've been using online communities since the Usenet/IRC days and even for me instances and federation are confusing. There are many important voices who don't have the technical know-how of the current Mastodon userbase and will struggle to comprehend it in its current form.
As Mastodon/GNUsocial grows what sort of model will it take on? Twitter-like where the public feed becomes overwhelming and thus irrelevant? IRC-like where the platform consists of many isolated communities and each user can participate in as many of them as they want? What I can't seem to figure out with Mastodon is how participating in multiple instances will work in the future, and I think this is necessary if instances are to be a positive feature, rather than a burden of complexity.
Hi, I hope someone sees this in the federated timeline. Is there any way to find existing friends here through email contacts, twitter/facebook, etc.?
